May 2008 before the class started. I have experienced a situation that I will never forget in my life .it is all about my favorite food before, but not now like (fish ball, palamig and all the street food). I remember after I enrolled in college (1st year) while waiting for the class to start. I enjoyed eating and strolling in the park. I saw many food out there, different vendors, foods they sale in the side of the street and of course a lot of buyers. I enjoyed seeing them and I told to myself “ Siguro masarap ang tinda nila madaming bumibili ih! Mura pa.” So I decided to experience it by my own. It’s great! I liked the taste, especially the fishball and kikiam (hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sarap!!) So when I already taste it, It became a habit of mine; Even my mom told me not too.”Ikaw talagang bata ka, kain ka ng kain ng mga yan. Baka pagsaktan ka ng tiyan” I’m not listened to her. I liked the savor of it.
One afternoon; I’m hungry. I go outside and while walking along the street. I saw 1 vendor selling street foods. At first, I don’t like to buy because the foods look nasty, but since I’m hungry I tried to buy some. 10 pesos of fish ball and 5 pesos of palamig satisfy my tummy. Then I went home. After I eat unexpectedly I took a nap. After 1 to 2 hours I felt that my body is hot. I felt so nauseated and cold, so I decided to stay in the room. When my mom touched my head she told me that I have fever. So I need to take some medicine over the counter. After 6 hours. I’m still suffering from fever, I started vomiting, all the content of my stomach (as in!). I felt so crazy, I vomit every minute even my stomach is empty. My mom prepared a soup for me, but all the food I ate stays in my stomach just for a minute. I was constantly stressful. It was getting worst. I felt dehydrated by that time, so my mom decided to send me to the nearest hospital. In the hospital they started inserting the I.V to me and took some blood for the laboratory test. I stayed in the hospital for almost five days. (I hate that). My doctor told me that I need to be more vigilant when it comes to the food I ate. Especially when I am not sure that the preparation is clean (the sanitation). When I discharge in the hospital I promised to myself that I will never buy and eat those foods again. The food itself is not bad but the preparation of it, is what we’re not sure about. We need to be aware of what are the foods that were going to eat. Sometimes those foods satisfy our hungry but we need to be aware if it is healthy to our body or not.
Now, being a student nurse all the knowledge that I learned was being used in my daily life. I am very thankful that I took up BSN. I remember what my professor said “That microorganism gives illness or worst it kills the giant person, because of our ignorance of the fact that we need to be aware to everything.
